An executive based in Paris has a late-morning flight from Orly on Saturday 17 October. His family is leaving for the holidays. A demonstration is announced in eastern Paris, with no known route. He does not know when to leave home.
A missed flight costs between €200 and €4,200 depending on the destination and the rebooking fare. A missed business meeting often costs more. 17 October 2026 makes that calculation harder than on an ordinary Saturday.
Three independent events overlap: a call for a "yellow vests" mobilisation, the first day of a flight crew strike notice, and the start of the school holidays in all three French zones. This guide separates what is announced from what is not. A fixed-fare private driver, booked in advance, is one of the options. Blackmile has operated in Paris since 1997.
17 October 2026: what is announced, and what is not
Three facts are established as of 30 September 2026. They do not carry the same degree of certainty. It helps to separate them before planning a journey.
Yellow vests protest on 17 October: what is announced
The "yellow vests" (gilets jaunes) were a protest movement that began in France in late 2018, triggered by fuel prices and the cost of living. Since mid-September, calls to revive it on Saturday 17 October have circulated on TikTok, Facebook and Instagram. Media describe scattered calls, with no single organiser identified.
For Paris, a poster shared online mentions Place de la République, "or Bastille depending on the route", according to Le Bonbon. No official route has been published. The Paris police prefecture reminds organisers that a demonstration must be declared between 15 and 3 clear days beforehand.
So no timings, routes or blockades are confirmed. Declared routes are usually known 24 to 48 hours ahead. They can be checked on the Paris police prefecture website.
The first day of the flight crew strike notice
A union alliance of pilots and cabin crew has filed a strike notice. It runs from Saturday 17 October at 00.01 to Wednesday 21 October at 23.59. It concerns the reform of combined employment and retirement income.
As of 29 September, no airline had communicated on possible cancellations. The unions say they are ready to resume talks with the government. The notice may therefore be lifted or maintained, and flight programmes become clearer in the preceding days.
17 October: CDG €105, Orly €95, fixed fare
Saloon fare locked at booking, no surge on the day. Flight tracking included.
The start of the school holidays in zones A, B and C
The All Saints holidays 2026 begin on Saturday 17 October for all three French school zones. Schools resume on Monday 2 November. As every year at All Saints, departures by train, plane and car concentrate on that first Saturday.

CDG strike notice and Orly airport: plan a wider margin
On an ordinary Saturday daytime, our journeys from western Paris take 35 to 50 minutes to CDG. Allow 25 to 40 minutes to Orly. On 17 October, three variables are added: holiday traffic, possible road closures and longer security queues.
We advise adding at least 45 minutes to your usual timing. Also check your flight status the day before with your airline. If your airline is subject to French employment law, the strike notice concerns you directly.
The saloon airport fare is €105 to CDG and €95 to Orly, locked at booking. CDG airport transfers and Orly airport transfers follow the same principle: fixed fare, no surprises, whatever the demand.
Stations and meetings in Paris: plan without guessing
For a train departure from Gare de Lyon or Gare du Nord, the risk lies in access more than in the lines. A declared demonstration can change traffic on several central and eastern roads, with bus diversions.
The principle is simple. Until routes are published, avoid building a tight schedule on a single itinerary. Your private driver adjusts the route at departure time, according to the traffic orders in force.
The same applies to a business meeting during the day. A meeting at 11am in the 8th arrondissement should be prepared with a comfortable margin.
Evening return: the journey people forget to plan
The return from a dinner or a show is rarely booked in advance. On a Saturday of holiday departures, taxis are in high demand. Mainstream apps adjust their prices to demand.
A booking made the day before fixes the fare and confirms the driver. For an evening in the city centre, agree with your driver on a pick-up point set back from the main avenues.

What a fixed-fare private driver changes that day
Blackmile has completed 34,800 rides since 1997, and no client has been left without a driver. Here is what that means in practice on 17 October.
- Fixed fare locked at booking: the quoted fare is the fare charged, with no dynamic pricing.
- Driver confirmed in advance: name, vehicle and time are shared before departure.
- Flight tracking for arrivals: if the plane is late, the driver adjusts their arrival.
- Punctuality SLA contractually guaranteed for business accounts.
For businesses: centralise rather than endure
A travel department whose staff each organise their own journey that Saturday faces inconsistent expense claims. It also faces cascading delays. A business account groups bookings, fixed fares and consolidated monthly invoicing.
Our corporate chauffeur service in Paris includes a contractually guaranteed SLA. It suits teams moving staff, guests or executives around this date.
